A few tears glistened in my eyes
and dirt covered my face
around the goggles and handkerchief
wrapped around my neck,
covering my mouth.
We had been racing
through a Mexican
cactus forest
and up a steep cliff
You asked if I wanted to drive
I hesitated but agreed.
I did want to.
The path was rough and
the next cliff was even more steep
downhill
but I drove skillfully
and you acted like you
weren't impressed
and I thanked you for
trusting me
and you said
I don't trust anybody.
